What is EVA?

EVA is short for Ethylene Vinyl Acetate. Ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) is the copolymer of ethylene and vinyl acetate. It's an extremely elastic material that can be sintered to form a porous material similar to rubber, yet with excellent toughness. It is a durable, flexible, transparent copolymer plastic. EVA material is with good clarity and gloss with little or no odor.

EVA Products and Applications

EVA has been the safer substitute for PVC for several years. There are several reasons that EVA is superior to PVC, one of them is in regards to health and environmental impacts. EVA material is widely used as a shock absorber in sports shoes, EVA shoes like Crocs hole shoes, gardening shoes, padding in sports equipment, eva packing like EVA cases, EVA bags, EVA plastic products like artificial flowers, EVA mobile cases, EVA cases for laptop, tablet, etc.

The EVA material has good barrier properties, low-temperature toughness, stress-crack resistance, hot-melt adhesive waterproof properties, and resistance to ultraviolet radiation. EVA is much healthier and environmental friendly, it does not require chlorine or plasticizers like BPA or phthalates. Thus you can find EVA teether for babies, EVA baby bibs, etc. The Center for Health, Environment and Justice (CEHJ) recommends EVA as a safer PVC-free plastic alternative. EVA is competitive with rubber and vinyl products in many applications.
